To: All Full-Time & Partial-Load Faculty
From: Ted Montgomery, President, OPSEU Local 560
Under the terms of the new Colleges Collective Bargaining Act , bargaining for the next CAAT-A Collective Agreement was scheduled for 90 days, beginning on June 3. No agreement was reached over the summer, and bargaining continues.
Your bargaining team would like to ensure that you are informed of all developments.
To this end, Local 560 has established a secure e-mail communications system for its members. So that all essential information on negotiations, contract votes, strike votes, etc. reaches you, we are requesting that you provide us with a secure private e-mail address from your internet-service provider (e.g. Rogers or Bell/Sympatico) or from a free e-mail provider such as Gmail, Hotmail, or Yahoo).
We will NOT be sending mail to any “faculty.name@senecac.on.ca” addresses. This will be a province-wide stipulation — all locals will be refraining from using their college e-mail servers since we cannot be certain faculty will have access to their college e-mail throughout our contract negotiations.
You can set up a private e-mail account free of charge at:
Of course, in addition to receiving e-mail updates from the Local, you can obtain up-to-date information about bargaining at the Local 560 website: www.opseu560.org and the OPSEU website: www.opseu.org .
To join the Local 560 Negotiations Update E-mail Service, please send an e-mail from your secure e-mail account to: news@opseu560.org . This e-mail service will be your best source of accurate information on contract negotiations.
